Bela Emerson’s original soundtrack for the Smash EDO documentary On The Verge premieres at Brighton’s Duke of York cinema on 17th March before touring the UK. This beautifully constructed & informative film from SchMovies documents the ongoing weekly demonstrations against EDO/MBM’s arms-making factory in Brighton. Other musical contributors include The Don Bradmans & Tragic Roundabout. More details here. Update: read this article from The Guardian about the police’s nationwide ban of the film.
Bela has been invited to perform solo in two atmospheric churches - St. Andrew’s in Hove and St. Paul’s in Bristol - by evocative improvisers Kamadaklan, a floating intuitive collective using ritual sound exploration. This will be Bela’s first solo Brighton date since returning from North America earlier this month.
Bela Emerson starts her first North American solo tour in New York (at the legendary ABC No Rio) on 7th October, before embarking on a full cross-continent tour over the next six weeks, both solo & in one-off collaborations.
Bela Emerson tours with Men Diamler this month: a great opportunity to see these two spellbinding solo artistes share a bill.
